Certification offered by the American Payroll Association is a valuable, objective credential that verifies a specified level of knowledge, skills, and abilities in the payroll profession. Certification helps individuals demonstrate their payroll expertise, secure promotions, advance their careers, and enhance their standing within the profession.  The APA offers two levels of certification.

The Columbus Area Chapter offers an annual workshop for members only to help candidates prepare for the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) exam.  This workshop provides excellent preparation for those individuals taking the exam, those desiring a payroll refresher, or those interested in receiving Recertification Credit Hours (RCH's).

The workshop is presented by chapter members who are CPP's and who volunteer their time and expertise.  The workshop runs from June through August each year. We currently do not offer a workshop for the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) exam.

Recertification Credit Hour (RCH) Certificates

The Columbus Area Chapter works with national APA to ensure that all of our educational offerings are approved for RCH's for both the FPC and CPP certifications.  We provide the RCH Certificate electronically to members after the event has been completed.

RCH Certificates are very important to keep and maintain as they are needed when it is time to recertify (3 years for the FPC and 5 years for the CPP).  If you lose or delete a certificate, our chapter will make every effort to research and replace, but cannot guarantee how long it will take.
