Board of Directors

The Columbus Area Chapter Board of Officers consists of four elected offices and appointed officers.  The elected positions are President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary.  The appointed positions are Events Coordinator, Government Liaison, Chapter Relations Coordinator, Membership Coordinator, Community Service Coordinator, and Website Administrator.  Officers are elected once a year in September for the upcoming year and the annual term runs from January through December.  Elected members are expected to attend the monthly Board Meetings, monthly Chapter Meetings, and represent the Chapter as needed.

President

Ronda L. Dunlap, FPC

White Castle

Ronda Dunlap, FPC, serves as President of the Columbus Area Chapter of PayrollOrg and has been an active member of both the local chapter and PayrollOrg for many years.

Ronda earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting from Belmont Technical College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Franklin University. She holds the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and has more than 30 years of experience in payroll, human resources, benefits, compensation, and payroll tax administration. She currently serves as Payroll Manager for White Castle.

Throughout her career, Ronda has held leadership roles with organizations including White Castle, MPW Industrial Services, Consolidated Employer Services, G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers, Cardinal Health, American Electric Power, and SWACO. Her broad experience across payroll, payroll tax, benefits, compensation, and employee relations has made her a respected leader within the payroll profession.

At the chapter level, Ronda has served in numerous leadership positions, including President, Vice President, Events Coordinator, and Treasurer. She has also led chapter membership initiatives and represented the chapter on statewide payroll efforts. In recognition of her contributions to the profession, she was named Ohio Payroll Professional of the Year in 2019.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ronda is passionate about supporting her community. Over the years, she has volunteered as a youth basketball coach, Cub Scout den leader, PTA officer, and supporter of Special Olympics Ohio. Throughout her career and personal life, she has remained committed to helping others learn, grow, and succeed.

Vice President

Jennifer M Smith, CPP

Jennifer M. Smith, CPP, serves as Vice President of the Columbus Area Chapter of PayrollOrg and has been an active chapter leader since 2008. Throughout her years of service, she has held numerous leadership positions, including Treasurer, Chapter President (2010-2011), and Vice President. She has also represented the chapter on the Ohio Conference for Payroll Professionals (OCPP) planning committee for many years and recently completed her term as OCPP Treasurer.

Jenny has more than 25 years of experience in payroll, accounting, and finance and currently serves as Payroll Manager for ODW Logistics. Prior to joining ODW, she spent more than two decades with Ohio Support Services and Ohio Custodial Management, where she advanced through payroll, accounting, and leadership roles. She began her career in Human Resources and has built extensive expertise in payroll operations, accounting, and financial management.

A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) since 2005, Jenny has been a member of PayrollOrg since 2001 and is also certified in UKG Pro Payroll. In recognition of her professional achievements and commitment to the payroll community, she was named Ohio Payroll Professional of the Year in 2020.

Jenny graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interpersonal Communications. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, playing softball, attending Broadway shows, and volunteering with Colony Cats & Dogs.

 

Secretary

Dedra D Hall, SHRM-CP

Tri Township JFD & Elm Valley JFD

Dedra D. Hall serves as Secretary of the Columbus Area Chapter of PayrollOrg and brings more than 30 years of experience in payroll, accounting, finance, and public administration.

Dedra retired from the Delaware County Auditor's Office in 2021 after a distinguished career spanning more than two decades, including 21 years as Payroll Coordinator and seven years as Deputy Auditor. Throughout her career, she developed extensive expertise in payroll administration, public-sector finance, compliance, and fiscal operations.

Following her retirement from county service, Dedra has remained active in public service and financial leadership. She currently serves as Fiscal Officer for both the Tri Township Fire District and Elm Valley Joint Fire District, and as Assistant Fiscal Officer for Delaware Township. Her continued commitment to these organizations reflects her dedication to supporting the communities she serves.

A longtime member of PayrollOrg and retired Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Dedra has been actively involved in the payroll profession for many years. She has also volunteered extensively within her community, including service as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Service Unit Treasurer, Junior Fair Board advisor, and church treasurer.

As Chapter Secretary, Dedra brings a wealth of institutional knowledge, professionalism, and public-sector experience to the Columbus Area Chapter. She is passionate about supporting payroll professionals and helping strengthen the payroll community through education, networking, and volunteer service.

Government Liaison and Events Coordinator

Drema Scott, CPP

City of Columbus

Drema Scott, CPP, serves on the Board of Directors for the Columbus Area Chapter of PayrollOrg and currently serves as the chapter’s Events Coordinator and Government Liaison. She is also an active volunteer with the Ohio Conference for Payroll Professionals (OCPP), where she chairs the Speaker Committee.

With nearly three decades of payroll, accounting, and leadership experience, Drema currently serves as Chief Payroll Officer for the City of Columbus. Prior to joining the City, she held payroll leadership positions with organizations including the YMCA of Central Ohio, Hexion, DSW, Liqui-Box Corporation, and Sarcom.

Drema began her career in payroll accounting and steadily advanced into executive payroll leadership through a commitment to continuous improvement, strategic thinking, and operational excellence. Throughout her career, she has led payroll operations across public sector, multi-state, and global organizations, successfully guiding payroll teams through complex compliance requirements, payroll system implementations, and transformational initiatives.

A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) since 2016, Drema is recognized for her ability to build strong relationships, develop high-performing teams, and create cultures of trust, collaboration, and inclusion. Her leadership style focuses on empowering others, encouraging growth, and helping teams achieve their full potential.

In addition to her payroll leadership responsibilities, Drema serves as the inaugural leader of one of the City of Columbus’ Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), providing leadership and fostering an environment where employees can connect, grow, and support one another. Her commitment to engagement, inclusion, and professional development reflects her belief that strong organizations are built through strong relationships.

A passionate advocate for the payroll profession, Drema enjoys sharing knowledge, supporting fellow payroll professionals, and creating meaningful educational and networking opportunities within the payroll community.

Outside of work, Drema enjoys traveling, shopping, exploring new experiences and cultures, and spending time with her husband, Lorenzo, their children, and granddaughter, Marley.

Chapter Relations Coordinator and Website Coordinator

Jenna Coomer

City of Columbus

Jenna Coomer serves on the Board of Directors for the Columbus Area Chapter of PayrollOrg and is passionate about supporting and connecting payroll professionals throughout Central Ohio.

Jenna currently serves as Senior Payroll Systems Lead for the City of Columbus, where she leads payroll system optimization initiatives and serves as a key functional owner of the Dayforce payroll platform. Since joining the City in 2016, she has held positions of increasing responsibility within payroll, including serving as payroll implementation lead for the City's Dayforce implementation and later as Payroll Supervisor during system stabilization and optimization efforts.

Prior to entering the payroll profession, Jenna worked in banking and financial services with Huntington Bank, supporting branch operations, mortgage servicing, and commercial loan administration.

Since discovering payroll in 2017, Jenna has developed a deep appreciation for the profession and the critical role payroll plays in supporting employees and organizations. She enjoys helping payroll professionals learn from one another, share experiences, and build meaningful connections with peers who understand the unique challenges and rewards of payroll work.

Through her involvement with the Columbus Area Chapter and the Ohio Conference for Payroll Professionals (OCPP), Jenna is committed to strengthening the local payroll community and creating opportunities for networking, professional development, and engagement.

Outside of work, Jenna enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and attending concerts and live performances. She is currently pursuing her Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation and working toward a goal of visiting every U.S. National Park.
